Saw something strange in the sky? Pin it. Every reader sighting on this map was read and approved by a real person, and every pin comes with the story, the photos and any video the witness shared — so the rest of us can look it over, compare notes, and try to work out what it really was. To get things started we have also added some of the best-known historical cases, each marked Historical case. Type your ZIP code below to see what has been reported near you.
The Sighting Map
We centre the map on your ZIP code and list the closest sightings, up to 5 within 250 miles. Your ZIP code is looked up in a public list and is not saved or sent to us.

Add Your Sighting
- Drop your pin. Search for a nearby town (or tap “Use my approximate location”), then click or tap the map where it happened. Drag the pin to adjust. Please pin the area, not your house.
- Tell the story. Put the town or region in the title (for example “Orange light over Lake Erie — Cleveland, OH”). In the story, give the date and time, which direction and how high, how long, how it moved, and what ordinary explanations you already ruled out.
- Add proof. Upload photos (JPG or PNG), and paste a video link (YouTube, TikTok, Vimeo or Google Drive “anyone with the link”) in the video field.
- Send it. We read every submission before it goes public. It usually takes a few days. Your email is never shown.
No pin yet. Click the map where it happened.
Only send things you made or have permission to share. No full names, addresses, phone numbers or faces of other people (especially children) without their OK. By submitting you give Space Anomaly Network and Paranormal Department permission to publish your sighting on this site and our social channels with credit to the name you give us. See Privacy & Terms.
Trouble with the form or the map? Email your sighting (with the town or region) to paranormaldepartment1@gmail.com and we will add it for you.
How Verification Works
Open a pin
Click any pin, then “Read the evidence.” You will see the full story, the photos and the video.
Add a verification note
Were you nearby that night? Do the weather, flight tracks or satellite passes explain it? Leave a note at the bottom of the story. Links to sources are welcome.
We review & label
Notes are read by a person before they appear. When a case has solid backing, or a clear ordinary explanation, we change its pin colour and say why.
Map Rules
- Be honest. If you found a normal explanation, say so — those entries help everyone.
- Be kind. Verification notes should discuss the evidence, not attack the witness.
- Do not post anyone’s home address, license plate, phone number or face. We blur locations and may edit or remove anything that exposes someone.
- No ads, spam, hate or harassment. We may decline or remove any entry or note.

ZIP code search uses U.S. Census Bureau ZIP Code Tabulation Area centre points (public domain), with Zippopotam.us as a backup for ZIP codes missing from that list; the backup service only sees the ZIP code you type. Loading the map contacts those services, which can see your IP address, as with any embedded map.
